> Defining Material Standards Basics

Follow these steps to define material standards basics.

  1. Open the Material standards form (IMMSTD).

  2. Click the Record view tab. Datastream 7i displays the Record view page.

  3. Material standard—Enter a unique code identifying the material standard, and then enter a description of the class in the adjacent field.

  4. Class—Click to select the class of the standard. The classes shown belong to the MSTD entity.

  5. Design code—Enter any designations defined by the manufacturer or by international standards organizations.

  6. Material—Enter the composition material for which to define standards.

  7. Design standard—Enter the design standards defined by the manufacturer or by international standards organizations.

  8. Temp UOM—Click to select the unit of measure for the temperature.

  9. Stress UOM—Click to select the unit of measure for stress.

  10. SMYS—Enter the specific minimum yield strength, and then click in the adjacent field to select the unit of measure for the specific minimum yield strength.

  11. SMUTS—Enter the specific minimum ultimate tensile strength, and then click in the adjacent field to select the unit of measure for the specific minimum ultimate tensile strength.

  12. Out of service—Select if the standard is not in use.

  13. Choose File | Save from the menu bar. Datastream 7i saves the information to the database.
